It’s time to start putting together a team to win a trip to Barton Creek Resort and Spa. Includes room for 4 nights, double occupancy, 4 rounds of golf (1 practice and 3 tournament), special events, tee prizes and awards.
Who May Qualify
All dues-paying members and their spouse and nonresident members may participate. Membership status must be maintained at least six months prior to the national event or six months following the national event. In the event the full entry-fee amount ($7500) is not raised during the qualifiers, the winning team will subsidize the remaining balance.
1. Each team must consist of four adult dues-paying members (including spouses) in good standing, male and/or female, with established USGA handicap indexes totaling no less than 43.
2. Only two members of the team may have a handicap index of 9.9 or less.
3. Each team member must be a club member who meets USGA Amateur Golfer requirements at time of qualifying and the national event.
4. There may be only two members of the previous year’s attending team on a current team attempting to qualify. A member attempting to qualify must use a handicap index that is no more than three strokes higher than his or her lowest handicap index for the 12-month period prior to qualifying at any club.
5. A new member wishing to qualify will be required to have at least five scores at the home club before becoming eligible to compete if he/she does not have an established handicap.
How to Qualify for the Finals
You can sign up as a team of four that fits the Rules Qualifications or even if you are a single let us know in the Golf Shop and we can help find you a team. Once you have a team, set a date to play and give the Golf Shop at least 24 hours notice. If your team shoots 68 or better, your team will qualify for the Finals. Each attempt to qualify will cost $75 per player.
Format - Elimination Scramble
Each team member will tee off on hole No. 1. If you are starting on any other hole, the team decides who will not hit so only four people are hitting. The team decides which shot is most favorable. The player whose shot is chosen is eliminated from hitting the second shot. When the second shot is selected, the player who hit that shot is eliminated from hitting the third shot, etc. A player is only eliminated for the shot following his/her selected shot. This will continue for the entire round; therefore, the player making the last putt on a hole cannot tee off on the following hole. The eliminated player cannot make a practice shot or putt during the time he/she is eliminated. Each violation of the format results in a two-stroke penalty.
Tees – Qualifying rounds
Men will play from the Blue tees, women from the Red tees, seniors (65) will play from Senior tees if their age plus their handicap index is equal to 75 at time of qualifying.
Senior tees will be set approximately 10% less than men's Blue tees; ladies Red tees will be set approximately 18% less than the men's Blue tees for qualifying and the national event.
Finals
The Finals will be held on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29 with tee times taking place between 8:30 and 10:30am. The qualifying scores do not count toward the Finals. The winning team will be determined by the lowest total score for 36-holes. If there is a tie after 36-holes there will be a sudden death playoff until a winner is determined. What hole we start on will be determined on Sunday depending on course availability. Each team in the Finals will be charged $75 per player.
